Celebrating Our People, Projects and Progress at Airmaster

It’s been a busy and exciting period at Airmaster, and following a recent catch-up with Made in Yorkshire, we thought it was a great time to reflect on some of the positive developments across the business.

Now proudly employee-owned since 2021, Airmaster continues to build on a strong foundation of values-led leadership, long-standing client relationships, and a deep commitment to investing in our people. It’s fair to say that our culture – described more than once as a “dysfunctional family in the best way” – remains one of our greatest strengths.

Reflecting back, a big moment for us came at the end of 2023, when we reached a major milestone by becoming financially free. This paved the way for a full-team celebration and was a testament to years of dedication, especially under the guidance of our Managing Director, Lisa Pogson. Lisa has played a vital role in navigating the business through challenging transitions – from the ownership handover to the hurdles of the pandemic, just to name a couple – she has always led with the team’s wellbeing and long-term future front of mind.

We’ve also seen exciting growth across several areas of the business. Our work in the Defence sector has expanded significantly in recent years, with one of our largest-ever projects – a £4 million installation for a major Defence OEM – successfully delivered in the South of England. While work in this sector comes with its challenges, it reflects the high standards and capabilities of our team.

Alongside this, we’ve continued to diversify, with a real focus on clean, modern factory environments and lab-based work. One standout local project was a major retrofit for ASSEAL in Rotherham – one of the biggest Yorkshire-based contracts we've delivered. This project not only strengthened a long-standing client relationship but also showcased our growing reputation for sustainable, energy-efficient design and delivery.

At the heart of all this success is our brilliant team. One of the highlights this year has been seeing our Design Apprentice, Max Brough, shortlisted for Rotherham Apprentice of the Year 2025 – a fantastic recognition of his drive, creativity, and commitment. Max joined us midway through his Level 3 Metal Fabricator apprenticeship and has since transitioned into a design role, now studying at Level 5 at University Centre Rotherham. He’s introduced AI into our design processes, championed sustainability, and continues to inspire others at STEM events across the region.

Lisa’s passion for nurturing talent has played a big role here. Through local school engagement, hands-on mentoring, and always making time for people, she’s helped shape a culture where potential is spotted early and supported to flourish. It’s that people-first approach – balancing ambition with compassion – that continues to drive us forward.

As we look to the future, we’re excited to keep building on this momentum – taking on meaningful projects, investing in innovation, and celebrating the people who make it all happen.

We’re also pleased to share that Airmaster will be exhibiting at the upcoming Made in Yorkshire Expo at the Accu Stadium in Huddersfield. In the past, this has always been a brilliant event for reconnecting with fellow members, making some new meaningful connections, and hearing what others across the region have been working on. So we’re looking forward to seeing you there on Thursday, 16th October!
